2023 Test Centre Information

Are you considering or planning to take the IBCLC certification examination at a test centre? We have collected some information and created checklists to help you prepare yourself before making your appointment, as well as before your examination day.

Please note that we are continuing to require the wearing of masks by examinees while taking the IBCLC examination at testing centres. There may be additional test centre requirements, so examinees are strongly encouraged to regularly review the Prometric Test Centre Policies for the most up-to-date information on COVID-19.

We encourage you to review our and Prometric’s (our third-party testing vendor) information about taking the IBCLC examination at a test centre.  During this dynamic time, testing procedures in place at Prometric test centres are subject to change.  Please check Prometric’s website and our website regularly for the most up-to-date information regarding testing in 2023.

Please note that if you are requesting a breast/chestfeeding break that we are working closely with the testing vendor to provide a private location for you to breast/chestfeed or pump at the test centre. The private location may be a private room or a privacy tent. The testing vendor and staff will work with you to locate the testing centre that is closest to your home that can offer a breast/chestfeeding accommodation. After scheduling your examination appointment with a Breast/Chestfeeding Break, you will receive two emails from Prometric. The first is the confirmation of your appointment. The second includes important information about your Breast/Chestfeeding Break. Please be sure to read both carefully.

You can find more information about sitting the examination at a test centre on the Examination FAQs page

If you have decided to take the IBCLC examination at a test centre or are still considering this option, please review the checklists below to learn how to prepare for the examination at a test centre. You can click any step of the checklist to view more information or view the detailed checklist in full here

Please note that we are making this information available to you on its website and will update it periodically.  As this is highly dynamic and Prometric is continuing to make updates to its website, we encourage you to review this information and Prometric’s website on a regular basis.

To facilitate a smoother testing experience, you will want to read through this information carefully.
